This Week in the Apple Class!

In Apple Class we have been using a form of touch cues called TaSeLS. It is a technique used to support the very early stages of communication and aims to aid the learner in understanding that something is about to happen. It consists of a core vocabulary of everyday words which are used daily in embedded routines and rituals.

We have also enjoyed exploring Ingredients to make the Fish Pie from our Mousehole Cat Sensory Story. Everyone loved exploring the mashed potato but no one liked the smell of the fish!

Apple Class have been loving their weekly Motor Ability Training Programme (MATP) sessions. We have been practising kicking, striking, dexterity and mobility with lots of fun resources and our friends from Redwood Class

What is MATP? (Motor Ability Training Programme is derived from the Special Olympics). It is a programme that is designed for our learners with complex needs and PMLD to access physical activity to improve fitness, motor skills and functional ability. We have been working hard on using our skills in a range of ways. We have been working in 4 smaller groups with Redwood class focusing on: Dexterity and vision focus, Mobility and Physiotherapy, Striking and Kicking.
