Family Engagement in Learning

When we talk about family learning, we’re referring to any learning that includes a child or young person and another generation of their family.

Family learning has benefits for both adults and children. This can be done through activities which focus on supporting adults with parenting skills, developing an understanding of their children’s learning needs, and improving their own skills to support their child’s development. It can also be done through a focus on children and adults learning a new skill together and sharing their learning experiences.

It’s been proven that families learning together can lead to improvements in children's behaviour, attainment, and wellbeing.

We offer Shared Learning Experiences in school termly, in which families can come into school and take part in learning with their child.  Please see 'Shared Learning Experiences' for more information and upcoming dates.

We offer workshops in school and can signpost parents and carers to various training providers.  We are also working in partnership with Cornwall Council to run a new programme of family learning courses which will be starting in the new academic year.  Please see 'Family Learning Courses' for more information.
