This week in the Exploration Pathway....
Holly Class
In Holly class, we have been using our senses to explore colours and Easter. During our investigating the world lessons, we have explored colour mixing using simple chemical reactions with vinegar and bicarbonate soda in Easter eggs. The learners enjoyed watching the eggs fizz and the colours mixing to create new colours. During our exploring the world lessons we have been exploring different objects linked to tradition and modern Easter celebrations. We have been using core boards to describe the textures and colours.
Elm Class
In Elm we have been preparing our entries for the Spring show on the 4th April. We are entering the 'Easter Garden' category and need to water the soil and plant some small plants around the cave they have created. They have also enjoyed making their Easter crosses from sticks, around the school. We're getting ready for Spring and are learning about Easter in our RE lessons.
Willow Class
In Willow class we have been exploring African masks in DT, linking in to our topic of Africa this term. The learners have explored different parts of a mask and what they wanted to include in there. First they explored different materials and then identified papier mache would be the best material to use for their creations. They have explored covering their mask with papier mache ready to decorate it for their next part of making the mask. Our learners showed great engagement throughout.
Little Orchard Class
In Little Orchard, we have been playing a listening game during phonics. We have to listen closely to the sound the animal makes, and then use a core board to identify which animal we think that we can hear. Some learners have even begun to say the animal, or copy the sounds the animals make, such as the roar of the lion, or the bark of the dog. In addition to this, it has allowed our learners an opportunity to practice their sign language skills with a range of animals.
