School Meals & Menus

Lunchtime arrangements

Hot meals are available in school at £2.53 a meal. These are prepared on-site and served by our School Chef and Catering Assistant who are employed by an external contractor called Clever Chefs.  We cater for all dietary requirements and provide bespoke meals to tailor to every learner’s individual need. ** Please let your child's class teacher and our school chef know of any allergies and requirements with regard to your child, and please check ingredients from our current menu. Ingredients for our new September 2024 menu can be checked on the Cleverchefs website by clicking on this link - https://cleverchefs-sen.mysaffronportal.com/

Cleverchefs have provided access to their new monthly 'Clever Food Hub' for our parents, learners and staff.

Please click on this link to learn more about healthy choices, recipes and fun facts about the food we eat.

The Cleverchefs Food Education Hub Mission: To create learning resources for schools and kitchens to inspire children to learn about food processes and make a good food culture for future generations. Everyone is welcome to join: pupils, parents, chefs and staff. The Cleverchefs Food Hub looks to encourage exploration, test new flavours and learn how to appreciate food from farm to table. It also aims to help pupils to make healthy food choices and develop a healthy relationship with eating.

School meals should be paid for regularly and in advance of their receipt -  (weekly, half termly or termly please).  We use ‘Parent Pay’ for payment for school meals and a variety of other planned school events. Please contact the school for your parent pay password, and log in details to activate and finalise your account. Please top up on a regular basis under the relevant section, for either school meals or for any other notified event that we may be holding within, or externally of the school. E.G trips/visits.

We use Parent Pay Meal Bookings to record meal attendance, and for Parents to select meals in advance for their children.

Please order at least a full week's worth of meals in advance; and the cut off point for ordering will be every Thursday, every week (which is the Thursday before your advanced booking that you will make) This allows the catering team time to prepare their cover numbers, order and make provision for any special diet requests, a week in advance. Each class has a bespoke allergens and diet requirement sheet kept in our kitchen that our Chef and Catering assistant adhere to each day.  All of our Mains on our menu's can be adapted to suit specific need.

* Please refer to our attached menus for a list of regular options*

**Please ensure that you let us know immediately if your child's dietary requirements change. This is to enable us to share the most up-to-date information with class teams and our catering staff.**

If you are in receipt of free school meals for your child, Parent Pay will recognise this, and you will not be charged for any meals taken.

Although we encourage all children to have a hot meal, provision is made for children to bring in a packed lunch.  This should be brought to school in a named lunchbox or similar container.

Any parent who feels that their child may be entitled to free school meals should contact the Free School Meals Department, Schools Section, County Hall (0300 1234 100) or by clicking on the following link - School meals - Cornwall Council

Cool Milk Scheme

We operate a school milk scheme - Cool Milk.  All under fives and any child in receipt of benefit related Free School Meals can receive a free portion of milk each day, whilst over 5s can receive milk at a subsidised rate.

Milk is an important part of a child's diet. It is one of the few drinks allowed in school under the latest government's food-based and nutrient based standards and provides a number of health benefits and social opportunities to ensure children get the most out of the school day.

School milk is also an ideal accompaniment to the school's free fruit scheme, which we are also a part of, and free for under 5's.

For full details of how to register click Cool Milk scheme.

Should you wish your child to receive a daily portion of milk at school, please ensure that you register/pay via the Cool Milk website.  There is typically a delay of 1 to 2 weeks from registration until your child receives their first portion of milk.  **If your child is entitled to free milk, but you do not wish your child to receive it (eg dietary reasons), please let us know**
