The School Day

Morning arrangements

Learners arrive at school between 9:15am and 9:25am, ready to begin the school day at 9:30am. Morning registration takes place from 9:30am to 10:00am. Any learner arriving between these times will be marked as late.

In line with guidance outlined in their EHCPs, most learners travel to and from school via taxi or minibus. This transport is arranged by the Children, Schools and Families Directorate at County Hall, Truro. Families also have the option to bring their children themselves if they prefer.

Upon arrival, learners are met by school staff, who greet and support them from the vehicle into school. If you have any questions or concerns about transport arrangements, please contact the Passenger Transport Unit on 01872 322003 (via the Council's information centre).

Lunchtime arrangements

Hot meals are freshly prepared and served each day by our school cook. While we encourage all learners to enjoy a hot school meal, packed lunches are also welcome. Packed lunches should be brought in a named lunchbox or suitable container.

Please see the Parent Information tab for sample menus and daily meal options.

All school meals should be paid for in advance—weekly, half-termly, or termly—via ParentPay, which is also used for other paid school activities such as trips. To activate your ParentPay account, please contact the school for your login details. Once your account is set up, remember to top up regularly under the appropriate section.

If you think your child may be eligible for free school meals, please contact the Free School Meals Department at County Hall on 0300 1234 100, or reach out to us directly and we’ll be happy to assist you.

End of day arrangements

The school day finishes at 3:30pm, with staggered departures shortly after this time to reduce congestion and ensure a safe, calm end to the day.

Learners are called by tannoy from their classrooms when their transport arrives. School staff then escort them to the foyer to meet their driver or passenger assistant, who checks that all students are present before departing the school site.

A typical school week consists of 30 hours of structured learning and activities.
