This week in the Exploration Pathway...

Holly Class
In Holly, we have been using our senses to explore colours and Easter. During our investigating the world lessons, we have explored colour mixing using simple scientific chemical reactions with vinegar and bicarbonate soda in Easter eggs. The learners enjoyed watching the eggs fizz and the colours mixing to create new colours. During our exploring the world lessons we have been exploring different objects linked to tradition and modern Easter celebrations. We have been using core boards to describe the textures and colours.
Elm Class
In Elm class, we have been working on creating a product to be sold. We baked and decorated biscuits to sell at the cake sale for Comic Relief and World Down Syndrome Day. We used symbol instructions to help us understand the cooking tasks, and as we are becoming more familiar with our Post 14 environment, some of us were able to find the ingredients on the recipe list from our labelled cupboards.
On the day, we wore odd socks, bought cakes, sold our biscuits and handled the money alongside the rest of Exploration (Access) Pathway. We really enjoyed eating the products too!
Willow Class
In Willow class we have been developing out independence skills, recently we have been looking at making different drinks. The learners were able to make some hot chocolate with support from the adults, they scooped in some chocolate powder and added some milk. An adult then added in some warm water and the learners were then supported in mixing their hot chocolate together. At the end some learners enjoyed trying their hot chocolate. The learners were supporting in knowing what stages they had to complete by looking at a core board.
Orchard Class
Little Orchard have enjoyed going to Bikeability for the past 2 weeks. It has given the learners an opportunity to improve their gross motor skills whilst learning and expanding on their co-ordination and communication skills. We enjoyed the fresh air and the exercise with our peers.
